Supermarkets and companies have pledged to seriously tackle food waste.
Several major chains, including Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose, are backing a voluntary agreement to tackle food waste within the next decade.
And major brands like Nestle and Coca-Cola are on board with the deal, which will also be aiming for a 20 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions caused by the food and drink industry.
The agreement, called Courtauld Commitment 2025 and brokered by Waste and Resources Action Programme, comes just days after Tesco agreed to redistribute all of its surplus food to charities.
