Seals are being killed in order to protect ‘ethical’ salmon that is being sold in some of the biggest supermarkets in the UK.
Around 1,600 of the animals were shot by fish firms in Scotland in the last six years because they were a threat to their caged stock, according to a report from the country’s government.

Major supermarket chains including M&S, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose have continued to purchase the salmon despite this.
