Five Waitrose stores are set to close in the UK after the supermarket giant’s owner John Lewis Partnership warned it profits are ‘substantially’ lower than last year.
The decision to shut four convenience shops and a small supermarket in Manchester, Birmingham and London is expected to affect around 200 members of staff.
The announcement of the supermarket closures comes as the group announced it doesn’t expect to make a half-year profit, while profits for the full year will come in substantially lower than last year.
